What is known about the four college students from Idaho discovered dead in an off-campus residence

Idaho’s MOSCOW—Four University of Idaho students were killed on Sunday, shocking and saddening everyone on campus, in Moscow, Idaho, the city of colleges, and beyond.

The four were discovered murdered in a residence away from campus. No suspect has been taken into custody. There is no continuing danger, according to Moscow police, and “information suggests that this was a targeted act,” they said.

Ellie McKnight, a Chapin friend from the University of Idaho, said that Goncalves, Mogen, and Kernodle shared a residence there.

Kaylee Goncalves, of Rathdrum, a town adjacent to Coeur d’Alene, was described as “the quintessential go-getter” in an interview with NBC’s “TODAY” program.

According to the university, she was a senior majoring in general studies in the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences and a member of the sorority Alpha Phi.

Since they had been in middle school together, Goncalves and Mogen’s families had accepted them as one of their own. Mogen traveled on cruises with the Goncalves family and vice versa.

All of us are sisters, but Kaylee and Maddie were particularly so, according to Alivea Goncalves.

When Kaylee Goncalves wished her sister Maddie a happy 21st birthday in May, she posted on Instagram, “I wouldn’t have wanted anybody else to be the main character in all my childhood memories.” A slideshow depicted their development from little girls to the college students they are now.

“More than life, I cherish you! Forever and always, my best buddy,” Mogen responded with a heart emoji.

A family friend, Jessie Frost, told the Idaho Statesman newspaper that after graduation this spring, Mogen intended to relocate to Boise.

The article said that Mogen also collaborated with Kernodle at a restaurant, where Mogen assisted in managing the company’s social media accounts. The two ladies “gave so much excitement to our restaurant and all of those they met,” according to a Facebook post from the eatery, the Mad Greek.

Age 20, Ethan Chapin

Freshman Chapin was from Mount Vernon, Washington, which is in Skagit County and is located north of Seattle.

According to the University of Idaho, he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and majored in administration of leisure, sport, and tourism.

His parents, Stacy and Jim Chapin, informed Seattle-based NBC station KING that Chapin, who had just turned 20, was one of three children.

The station was informed by Stacy Chapin that “all we do, is all of us, together.” We have a close-knit family.

In a statement, Jazzmin Kernodle, her sister, stated, “I feel blessed to have had her as a sister.”

According to Jazzmin Kernodle, her sister was so upbeat and jovial that she “always lightened up a room.” The family is speechless and anxiously awaiting the results of the inquiry.

“Kaylee, Maddie, and Ethan, as well as all of their families, are on our minds. They were all wonderful individuals who were really adored, she continued. They were such a blessing in my sister’s life.
